Wesley, Owned by Tracey Tucker

When I met Kate, my horse Wesley had been off work for 6 weeks, seemingly unsound behind and having been treated by my vet for changes in his hocks.  He was ready to start work again but, whilst he was sound behind, now appeared lame in front but only when ridden on the left rein. The vet did not seem to know what to suggest so just said to give him more rest. I was convinced that the problem had been in his back so contacted Kate to come and have a look at him. Her advice was that his back was too sore for a horse not ridden for 2 months. On speaking to another vet at the practive, he agreed and decided to so shock wave therapy on his back with as much physio as he needed. Over the next few weeks, Kate came out regulalry to treat Wesley but he still stayed lame to the left when ridden.  All this in the freezing and snowy weather that we have had this winter! It was only when the strong pain killers he was on wore off that another sore area was found by Kate in his sternum area, on her recommendation to the Vet, the shock wave was done here too.  Wesley gradually came sound  and has now finished all of his treatment.  I know that the vets would not have found where the problem was if it was not for Kate and cannot thank her enough for her continued keeping the vets informed each time she came out and persistance in continuing to help in the early time when there was seemingly no imppovement in his condition.
